DBA 2012 Atlas Peak, Napa Valley
DBA exhibits medium deep dark color with a light purple hue.
On the nose, this wine is exhibiting vibrant red and black fruit aromas with a pleasing, subtle oak note; and a nice earthy component that adds complexity to the aromatic profile.
A layered and refined wine, it is loaded with flavors, offering notes of blackberries, chocolate, cinnamon spice and some subtle cherry; leading to a medium to long finish.
Harvested in October 2012.
Over 800 wines were entered into this year's prestigious American Fine Wine Competition; which is strictly by invitation only. Our DBA won a coveted gold medal. Only 19 wines were judged worthy of gold in DBA's Red Blend category!
Opaque dark black garnet color. Bright, attractive, fruity aromas and flavors of chocolate roasted nuts, black raspberry tart, cherry-orange gelato, and coconut macaroon with an oily, lively, dry-yet-fruity medium-full body and a peppery, medium-long delicate spice, vanilla cream, pencil shavings, and pepper finish with silky, well-integrated tannins and moderate oak. A toothsome and vibrant red blend that is sure to please.
DBA Wine Information
DBA is our proprietary red blend; comprised of the four varietals we grow on our estate located on Atlas Peak in the Napa Valley.
Our vineyards are planted on an ancient volcanic flow. The vines are laid out in eleven micro-blocks; each one with its own unique terroir.
In general each of the blocks shares the same challenging farming conditions; rocky soils, hillside terrain and significant marine influence.
As such, our vines produce low yield and our grapes enjoy slow ripening, which results in extended hang time.
DBA, named after proprietors Debb and Bob Almeida, is a layered, nuanced wine; and reflects the love and passion of our more than 45 years together.
DBA can be enjoyed now and, like a beautiful relationship, will continue to improve over the years.
