Dalla Gasperina Vineyard
Dalla Gasperina is a 20 acre vineyards located off Galleron Road in the heart of the Rutherford AVA.
The Rutherford Appellation was designated in 1993 and the Rutherford Dust Society was founded in 1994 by growers and vintners in tribute to the legacy of our grape growing and winemaking forebears. Since the late 19th century, the growers and vintners of Rutherford have played a significant role in the development of Napa Valley as a world-class winemaking region.
Our winemaker, Kian, and I made a Sauvignon Blanc, from grapes sourced from this vineyard, under a predecessor label, in the 2009 vintage. The wine was a personal favorite; and while Sauvignon Blanc is not made to age, we still enjoy the occasional bottle from that vintage. The amazing acidity enables it to retain its freshness and character after seven years in the bottle!
When we decided to add a white wine to the Lagniappe Peak portfolio, it was an easy decision where to look. The soils from this organically farmed vineyard are a mosaic of gravely loam, and sand along with volcanic and marine sediments that provide excellent drainage. Wines from this vineyard display crisp citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon-line, combined with minerality.
